"48h Competition, and Traffic Blitz News"

I'll just be handing out raw news in this update. Starting with the 48h Kizi Developer Competition. It was hosted just over a week ago now, on FlashGameLicense.com (the website I am able to sell my games on), and there was 63 different entrees. I was one of those entrees. So I can sincerely say I completed some of my toughest work in the 48 hour period. My original plan was to stay awake the whole time, but I ended up falling asleep for 15 hours at one point. Nonetheless, I was still able to get a good 25 hours into my game for the contest, and learned heavily from the ordeal. Now I have better time management skills, and tackled terrain generation for the first time. Check out the game here on my website, called "Pharaoh's Curse", as it was entered.

The last time I talked about "Traffic Blitz", I referred to it as "Traffic Director". Well, now the name was changed to be more appealing (sort of like the Magnet Ball to ElectroMagnetic trend), and the gameplay was completely revamped from original plans. It has been on my back burner for a long time, and is actually near completion. I would say the game is 90% finished, and I want to complete it within 15 more days. Stay on the lookout for the next Pyroflame Games title, an addictive game where one must manipulate traffic at an intersection to avoid crashes using tools and mouse controls.

"ElectroMagnetic finally Electrifed to Life"

Hey you guys! I have finally published my next game, ElectroMagnetic. You can check it out and vote at the world's top two Flash portals, Newgrounds.com and Kongregate.com! I just uploaded the game to those venues yesterday. There are a ton of mixed feelings about the game all over the Internet, on one website it may have a score of 9/10 stars, and on another a mere score of 3.03/5! Trying to publish this new game taught me a good lesson to make my games more casual to be more appealing. Hardcore games can be incredibly fun and addicting, but only for a smaller niche of your audience. It's best to have elements of both!

On the Flash portal websites, Newgrounds and Kongregate, scores went okay. Reading all of the positive reviews really help to make developing Flash games worth it. The reviews suggest after people play the game past a certain point, they really get hooked. Ha, someone even died a total of 1576 times before winning! The game did not do quite as good as Crumbled 2, which also taught me a lot about the Flash game industry and where it stands today. Because after all, Crumbled 2 was released over three years ago.

Be sure to check out ElectroMagnetic on Game Pirate's website too, by clicking here! They sponsored my game and I was very happy working with them. I hope we can do more business in the future. If it was not for great Flash sponsors like those sailing on awesome bay, developers like myself would not have a job. Expect more games to come people, next up being Traffic Blitz!

"Magnet Ball transformed into ElectroMagnetic"

Another acceptable title for this insert would be "Stunt and Rebirth". There were some problems with the old Magnet Ball that I had to work through, and that took time. Now with much more time having passed, just about every single aspect I wanted to improve in Magnet Ball has been completed. In regard to that process, I have decided to rename the game. Today I am actually finishing the pause menu and then I need to finish the "How To" sections. The plan is to go through the process of looking for a sponsor again with this new title and all of the grand improvements. I truly believe ElectroMagnetic will soon be at an Internet near you. It all makes for a much better game and I am heavily anticipating reception!

On other unrelated news, since college is so close I have been working nonstop at conceptualizing new game concepts. There is a notebook I have with page upon page of game ideas, and every day it only grows. I hope to release even more games before I leave for college next Fall. After all, that bill is pretty expensive. So just be expecting a series of rapidly released games after ElectroMagnetic thanks to all of this being in the works. You will see in the future, such titles as "Align Fine", "Battle Bubble", and "Piston Arena".

"Magnet Ball Before Summer"

I promised, and I have finally delivered before summer officially ended. Well, you can at least expect to see Magnet Ball coming to an Internet near you soon. This is because I've finished literally 98% of the entire game and I'm in the process of looking for a sponsor. Right now I'm also just going back and adding extremely minor polish details, then we can call the game 100% done! High school had started nearly a month ago but I haven't let that slow me down too much at all. I'm so happy to once again be releasing another heavy-hitting platformer like Crumbled 2. Magnet Ball seems to strike a few of my friends as a unique game, and to me it was a great experience putting all of it together. It's the first game I created that combines the platforming concept and a large focus upon offensive gameplay. It will have thirty levels just like the Crumbled series, and even a boss battle. With every game I create I seem to learn so much more, I honestly cannot wait to release my next game after this.

Hopefully a sponsor can be found very soon, and everything else can be wrapped up within a month of time. After it finally hits the web, I'd like to finally wrap up Traffic Director as well. That game has been sitting at about 90% completion for quite some time now. Releasing two games back to back like that would be even extra exciting to me, so please expect to see even another game very soon. Thank you all that support Pyroflame Games.

"Getting It Together"

Magnet Ball hasn't died, and I haven't died, although I have been going through months at a time where I don't even open Flash. I'm 17 now so of course my usual excuse distracting me from my work is school, and life in general. But not anymore, not now! There's no more school thanks to summer. Well, besides those stupid summer reading assignments. But that can wait because finishing a Flash game by the end of summer is much more important. I'll be starting with Magnet Ball hopefully and I really want some good progress by the end of this month. I hope to reform the projects section to be more informative eventually too. I thought it would be very good to have a Pyroflame Update since my last one was literally five months ago.

Traffic Director on the other hand may be a little dead, just not sure where to go with it. It seems fun, and is pretty much finished. I just don't know. However I'm thinking that as soon as Magnet Ball is out of the way, I'll be able to focus on it more and maybe even release two games this summer. Now that, would be amazing.

"A Few New Gadgets and Sweeping Progress"

By a few new gadgets, I mean five brand new gadgets added to their respective section of my website for anyone to enjoy. These gadgets include "Chopper", "Heart Shatter", "Mouse Avoid Minigame", "Pong in a Box", and "Toy Car". They're all pretty basic but now with the new set comes a new set of "Back Stories" with each one explaining when I made the exact gadget and telling just more about it. So go ahead and check out the gadgets section to venture your way into all new doodads.

Back to more important news, great progress has been made on not only Traffic Director, but Magnet Ball too. I've been real busy with life and school, so I haven't had a whole lot of time to work. Those that have been following me on my Facebook or Twitter, thank you very much. It's the best way to keep up with my workings in between every Pyroflame Update. The only things that need to be finished on Traffic Director is the tutorial and some more testing of the gameplay, along with adding ample amounts of polish (the little details here and there that make the difference). But before finishing Traffic Director, I've got myself involved with Magnet Ball. It's been in the projects section of the website for some time now, however work has really been becoming a breakthrough for the game. It's a platformer that focuses around the aspect of an energy bar and three player abilities. The ability to magnetize to walls mostly, deploying energy blasts, and shooting energy bullets. Already I'm done designing 15/30 levels, and with much more progress to come soon. I'm going to try and release Magnet Ball right before Traffic Director, each one keeping my game designing fresh in my head so nothing is too boring and monotonous.

"A Fresh Look, a Newfound Section, and a New Laptop"

For anyone that regularly visits the website, it's been down for the past 2 days promising a better design. With the renovations now over, here is the end result. The navigation buttons are much fancier, a good quality to have in a navigation button of course. If you even look closely, a new section has been added. The "Gadgets" section features Flashes that aren't quite games, but just simple Flashes that serve a general purpose like entertainment or assistance in math homework. I expect to populate this area of the website over time, whenever I don't feel like working on a game. The "RTC: Right Triangle Checker" is currently the only gadget. The "Games" and "Projects" sections have also been completely redesigned to be more streamlined, straightforward, and easier to read.

For anyone that has liked Pyroflame Games on Facebook or following me on Twitter, then you would know I also purchased a new laptop. Mostly because my last laptop kicked the bucket and was out of warranty. With it already being a few years old, I decided to get a new one instead of replacing the motherboard. It's quite the computer, a Dell Studio 16 XPS; and is the most expensive one I've ever owned. Game production is officially back into action with this new piece of equipment.

"Resurrection and Traffic Director"

As I am nearing towards the close of a very long summer, I would like to start making games again. Doing so more frequently and regularly than I ever have before, by actually dedicating time of my day to do nothing but work on games. I've come to the point in my life where I know I want to make games for a living, hopefully for some gaming company down the line. For the moment though, building a nice portfolio and providing gas money isn't a bad thing to do at all using Flash. There are several ideas on my plate, things like "Magnet Ball", "Crumbled 3", and "Traffic Director". I definitely want to get involved into mostly platforming type games after Traffic Director, my true passion.

Speaking of which, Traffic Director is still in the same situation as it was on March 11, not much work has been put towards finishing the game. I've in fact lost touch with my artist, but most of the art is basically already done. Just a few things here and there need to be made, some more things coded, designed and polished, then we have a complete game. As soon as it is in a state ready for this, I will be sure to put a working demo in the "Projects" section of my website to possibly get feedback and provide a preview to what is going to be released and sponsored. Until then, please follow me on Twitter or Facebook. While following me, I promise that you will never miss any work I actually preform and complete.

"Social Networking and Traffic Director"

I've recently got involved with social networking websites like Facebook.com and Twitter.com, to provide alternative means of keeping track with Pyroflame Games. Speaking of which, you can become a fan on Facebook here, or follow me on Twitter here. I hope to update these websites just as much, if not more, than I update the homepage of my own website. You will never miss anything that has to do with Pyroflame Games while being apart of my Facebook and Twitter page.

Also, I've been working on a new game for a while now in case anyone was wondering. It's from an overhead perspective (or bird's eye view) and will be called "Traffic Director". The basis of Traffic Director will be to prevent car crashes in the center intersection, by clicking cars to stop them or accelerate them. There will also be many items and upgrades to purchase from money earned to help you along the way, and other modes involving other things. I am teaming up with an artist to create this game, it will be my first collaboration. When I feel that it is playable enough, and when I make a tutorial for it, you may see it in the projects section of my website.

"Avoidacious"

I wanted to make a fun, addicting, but yet simple game and this is what I got. Avoidacious is an arcade styled game where you must avoid anything and everything that comes your way through all 12 stages except hearts. You have to play it more and more to keep getting better. The longer you survive, the higher score you get to submit to the high score list.

This one took a while to get sponsored, and I may have not got as big as a paycheck as I would have liked; but it still turned out to be a great game for how much work I put into it. In the end, Avoidacious got sponsored by the same sponsor for Crumbled 2, timekillgames.com. That's good to, because they were my main motivation to continue developing the game.

"Pyroflame.com got a Facelift"

My website used to not display well with someone using Internet Explorer (why use that horrible browser software anyways? Upgrade to FireFox already) or a low screen resolution. I've already known this for a while now, but recently I finally tasked myself with making my website compatible with everyone. What we have here now is just that. I changed most of the dimensions of the website from scaling to finite, meaning if you now view Pyroflame.com on a high resolution it won't scale to a smaller size; but this will also keep everything in place where it is supposed to be on the webpages. Changing some of the .css information fixed the problems with Internet Explorer; which was making some text show up in incorrect sizes and displaying incorrect colors.

"Crumbled 2"

After much quiet contempt, Crumbled 2 is finally released. When I logged on my Newgrounds account after not logging onto it for so very long, there were literally several messages asking me "Where is Crumbled 2"? Well here it is, very late, but here nonetheless.

What took me so long was finishing the damned boss battle along with some other things, like the menu, etc. All of the levels were finished a long time ago for the most part. Finally though, during the summer I pushed myself to finish it.

When I submitted Crumbled 2 to Newgrounds, it was cheated out of a Daily award by a very nasty string of bad reviews and scores. The second the cut off time for Wednesday dailies came, Crumbled 2's score went rapidly up. Currently, it's got nothing but extremely good reviews and a really nice score. The next day later, on Thursday I find out it would have got Daily 3rd; so I've still yet to get a Daily award on Newgrounds.

Honestly though, who needs silly dailies when you have an awesome sponsor for your game. My awesome sponsor was timekillgames.com. Check them out for sure. The pay check I got from them will beat any daily, ever.

"Pyroflame.com is back"

After nearly two years of down time, Pyroflame.com is finally back in action. Now also instead of being called Pyroflame Productions, I am now known as Pyroflame Games ~ as I only exclusively make games anyways, and it's never really much of a "team". It's good to be back, and everything that was previously on the home page, all the news, etc, has been wiped out to begin anew.

What had happened before was that my old host, superfreehost.info (some great free hosting while it was still around) just disappeared out of nowhere, so that of course followed with my own website. I didn't really feel motivated to find a new host for all this time because I was out of the Flash scene anyways. However, now that I finally finished, and released Crumbled 2 I decided to ressurect Pyroflame.com with it's new free hosting provided by 000webhost.com, an even better host than its predecessor!
